Jonathan Loiterman is Of Counsel at Foundation Law Group LLP.

With over 15 years of experience as an attorney and business executive, Jon brings a powerful and diverse range of legal and business skills to our Digital Media and Videogames Transactions, Startups/Venture Capital, M&A, General Corporate Representation, and Litigation Groups. Jon focuses his practice on the video game and interactive digital media industries.

Jon advises clients on general counsel, corporate, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation matters. He represents businesses in IP licensing, publishing, service contracts, and business and asset sales. Drawing from his own experience as a founder, he is also a seasoned startup practitioner, helping companies organize, grow, and negotiate deals with investors using a range of investment instruments. Jon is also a seasoned litigator, having spent nearly a decade handling complex litigation matters.

Before joining Foundation Law Group, Jon was the founder and principal attorney for JBL Law, LLC, representing game developers and small businesses in IP, corporate, startup, and litigation matters. The International Game Developers Association Foundation honored Jon for his work as an attorney and advocate in the gaming industry.

Previously, Jon founded and served as the CEO of a highly regulated startup he operated and raised money for before securing an exit, giving him intimate familiarity with the needs of small and growing businesses. As a seasoned business executive, Jon is exceptionally skilled at helping companies to reconcile abstract and technical legal challenges with practical business solutions.

Before founding his startup, Jon was a Senior Associate at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, LLP (f/k/a L&G Law Group, LLP) in Chicago, where he worked in their health law and litigation groups.

In addition to his legal background, Jon has hands-on experience as a solo game developer, allowing him to understand game industry businesses’ unique needs and challenges. His background as a business executive means that where most attorneys advise clients of the rules and legal precedents, Jon works closely with businesses to craft solutions that are responsive to legal issues and real-world business needs.

Jon received his Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from Loyola University Chicago and is admitted to practice in Illinois and Oregon. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
