Matt Katona is a corporate associate based in Sacramento, specializing in mergers & acquisitions and venture capital transactions.

Before joining Foundation Law Group, Matt was an associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P.C., where he primarily worked on merger and acquisition transactions. Recent deals that Matt worked on include IonQ’s acquisitions of Lightsynq and id Quantique, Walmart’s acquisition of VIZIO, and IBM’s acquisition of Hashicorp.

Matt received his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan and is admitted to practice law in California. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from National University with a Bachelor of Science.

Before attending law school, Matt was enlisted in the United States Navy as a Navy diver. Matt also worked for the State of Alaska, Division of Retirement and Benefits, where he managed a team of retirement technicians. He also enjoyed volunteering as a firefighter and EMT for Capital City Fire and Rescue for the City and Borough of Juneau, Alaska.

In his spare time, Matt enjoys hiking and traveling to new destinations with his family.
