K. Jun Kim is a Partner at Foundation Law Group LLP, where he is a member of its Intellectual Property Group and leads the firm’s High-Tech and Asian practices.

 

K. Jun has more than 20 years of experience in major global law firms, corporations and investment firms. He previously served as Vice President of Samsung Electronics IP Center, and as General Counsel/Chief IP Officer of Samsung Display Co., responsible for corporate governance, antitrust issues to IP prosecution, IP licensing, IP acquisition and global strategy.

 

Prior to joining Foundation Law Group, K. Jun was the CEO of Intellectual Discovery Co., a Seoul-based IP investment company.  He has also practiced as an attorney at the international law firm of DLA Piper in Silicon Valley as well as at renowned IP boutique Pennie & Edmonds in New York and Silicon Valley.

 

K. Jun’s experience includes:

 

  • Licensing negotiations with global corporations and institutions
  • IP evaluation/sales/acquisition of multi-million dollar portfolios
  • IP enforcements at US District Courts, International Trade Commission, Chinese and Japanese Courts
  • IP strategy, prosecution, development, analysis and evaluation
  • Development and application of various standard patents (telecom, multimedia)
  • Antitrust/IP matters in the US, China and the UK

 

K. Jun presently serves as Counsel for the Licensing Executives Society International (Paris), and as an Arbitrator/Mediator for WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) ADR Center.  He received the Asia IP Elite Award from IAM (Intellectual Asset Management, London) in 2013.  K. Jun was also named as IAM World’s Leading IP Strategist.

 

K. Jun received his Juris Doctor from USC Law School and is admitted to practice law in California and the United States Patent Bar.  He received his BS in Materials Engineering, at Seoul National University, an MS in Materials Science & Engineering from KAIST, an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MS in Computer Engineering from USC.
